Let's discuss Skin Care Tips for Acne-Prone Skin. I hope you certainly are having a fabulous day today. Because the National Survey I looked at yesterday stated that "87% of women are confused about their skincare products" today seems like the perfect time for me to share with you my skincare Tips for Acne-Prone Skin. These tips will help you to clear up both acne & Acne scars in no time.
Due to the fact that the majority of my followers are currently struggling with Acne and/or Acne Scars, I hope this blog article brings value to your life.
The tips I will be sharing below will help you take your skincare game up a level or two. I hope you are loving your "highly melanated" skin (In the words and voice of Janelle Monae) a little bit more with each and every day.
First of all, professional treatments alone will not get you results. Furthermore, Homecare is crucial if you really want to see lasting physical results faster.
You see a licensed esthetician 1x per month, however, you have 59 opportunities to take care of your skin at home.
Here's another way to think about it... You see a dentist once every 6 months for your bi-yearly dental cleaning (I hope you are)... Do you stop brushing your teeth consistently in between your professional dental cleaning appointment? I hope not!! lol. Bad breath is simply not a good superpower to have.
Therefore, I recommend a Professional Facial Treatment every 3-4 Weeks and follow-up with consistent home care for maximum results.

You will definitely need a scrub to buff away the dead skin. My two favorite scrubs are Sand Your Ground -Clarifying Exfoliation - Facial Scrub & Mask or our best seller scrub that can be used all over your body the Triple Shot Caramel Coffee Scrub.
Finally, you will also need an Enzyme mask like the Splendid Dirt Pumpkin Mask or the Pajama Paste Yogurt Mask.
Remember to use a broad spectrum SPF 30 like the Weightless protection sunscreen for those with acne Visit our online store for additional sunscreen options.
Certainly, you know that being consistent is how you will start to see real visible results.
Linden Tyler once said, "Invest in your skin... It is going to represent you for a very long time." This is true on so many levels.

Let's get started with the real reason why you are here reading this blog post...
Below I'm sharing my number one secret for a clear and even skin complexion.
The first step of your facial is the most important. Cleansing removes dirt, oil, and makeup to give your skin a “clean slate.”
For acne/Acne Scars I recommend the following cleanser: Blemish Control Bar or the Pigment bar for uneven skin from our online store.
1-2x per day --> Morning & Night
Now that your face is squeaky clean, it’s time to exfoliate. Exfoliating is imperative for creating a healthier, youthful, and smoother appearance. This not only helps with evening-out the look of your skin tone but also with refining the look of your pores, removing acne scars, and smoothing out the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while improving the way your skin feels. Exfoliating also greatly increases product penetration-You're buffing away the old dead skin.
Technique: Apply a dime-sized amount of scrub, such as the Pore Refining Scrub. to the skin and then use upward, circular motions with light pressure for 1-2 minutes.
DO NOT USE A SCRUB DAILY: Excessively exfoliating will likely cause your skin to over-compensate by producing excess oils.
When steam enters the facial, this is when the home spa vibe really gets going. To me, steam is the most relaxing and cleansing part of a facial. It opens the pores.
How to steam: The easiest way to steam is to bring water to a boil in a large pot. Take a towel and drape it over your head and slowly lean your face over the pot so that your face is directly over the steam. (Be careful to not get too close!) It should feel warm, not hot.
Steam for 10-15 minutes, with intermittent breaks if you need. If you have sensitive skin or rosacea, steaming may not be ideal for your skin type.
Step#: 4—EXTRACTIONS ** Leave this to the Pros**
While I know it’s tempting to want to extract your blackheads/whiteheads yourself, but as a licensed professional I recommend only getting extractions done by a Licensed Dermatologist/Esthetician. I say this because extracting incorrectly can result in tearing and/or scarring the skin. I know your shot in reading this because you want to add new acne scars to your face. Am I right?
Step#: 5—TREATMENT MASK
After all of those deep cleaning steps, it’s time for some pampering. Now you can relax and give your skin some tender loving care! The treatment mask is the heart of any facial. This is when your skin is most ready to receive yummy nutrients since it’s just been cleansed, exfoliated and steamed.
Apply your mask using a brush and leave it on for 10-minutes.
(Now would be the time to place cucumber slices or a warm green tea bag on the eyes if you really want to get into it!) Remove the mask with a warm washcloth and splash your skin with cold water after.
It's time to add the icing on the cake! (not literally) lol. Now you will continue by applying the same steps you’d complete in your daily facial routine.
- Acne Creme as needed to treat acne.
- Intensive Brightening retinol before you go to sleep to promote cell turnover and help the skin heal faster/removing the acne scar **You should only use this every other day and about 1-2 times per week- ex: Monday & Wednesday night or Thursday & Saturday night**
Step#: 7—MOISTURIZE (Rebalance/Clearskin)
Let’s put some pep in this final step and seal everything with a Moisturizing is an essential step for the face and around the eyes, massage deeply into the skin for 1-2 minutes.
1-2x per day --> Morning & Night
Acne/Acne Scars: use Clear Skin Moisturizer for Dry Skin, Use the Rebalance Moisturizer Lastly, if your skin is severely dry, we would go up a level.
Step#: 8—SUNSCREEN(Weightless Protection Sunscreen)
Finally, I know this saying has been going around for YEARSSSS NOW!!! "People with darker skin don't need sunscreen because of all the Melanin in their skin. That's not the case at all! UV Rays affect everyone... Besides, did you forget that we live in an oven called Tampa, Florida?
DON'T FORGET TO RE-APPLY- Even when your flying inside an airplane you still need sunscreen.
1x per day --> Morning
TO SUM EVERYTHING UP:
Daily: Cleanse, Moisturize, Treat & Apply Sunscreen --> about 2x per day... Morning & Night.
Weekly: DIY Spa Day at home--> Cleanse, Exfoliate, Steam, Mask, Treat, Moisturize and apply sunscreen if needed.
