How Do Male and Female Skin Differ?
For starters, men's skin is generally about 25% thicker due to higher collagen content. Also, the oil glands in a men's skin are more active.
Moreover, the aging process is more gradual from a young age in men, whereas women's skin generally maintains thickness and moisture content consistently until menopause - which is around the time when decreasing estrogen levels cause dramatic changes to the appearance of a woman's skin.
Is there really a difference between male and female skin care?
Equally important, women are more prone to experience adult acne from hormonal changes, many women’s products often account for that by including exfoliants, calming and acne-fighting ingredients in the formulations.
Do Men And Women Really Need Different Skin Care?
Similarly, Men's skin is about 25% thicker with more collagen, sebum productions, more hair on their skin, and they tend to have larger hair follicles, all of which is mostly due to increased testosterone production.
Example, these structural differences make men's skin less sensitive and able to handle stronger ingredients. However, it also makes them a bit more acne-prone, so they don't need as heavy cream-based products
